Avraham Poraz

Mr. Poraz received his LL.B. degree from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 1969 and was admitted to practice law in Israel in 1970.

From 1988 to 2006 Mr. Poraz was a member of the Knesset (the Israeli Parliament). During this period Mr. Poraz was a member of various Knesset committees, including the Constitution, the Law and Justice Committee, the Education Committee, the Internal Affairs Committee and the Environment Committee and was also the Chairman of the Economics Committee (1999 to 2003).

From February 2003 to July 2004 Mr. Poraz served as the Minister of the Interior.

During the many years he was a member of the Knesset, Mr. Poraz led the forming of the legislative framework which created Channel 2, cable TV and the regional radio stations, and took a leading role in the legislation procedures of various other acts which govern the telecommunication and media sectors in Israel.
